Glowing Oceans
by Science Centre Singapore
About this Activity
Glowing Oceans brings the natural wonder of bioluminescence indoors β Asia's first full-scale living bioluminescence exhibition, opening at Science Centre Singapore. Visitors wade through a glowing lagoon and interact with live dinoflagellates, single-celled marine plankton that emit blue light in response to movement, plus Galaxy Tables, Touch Tables and Tanks, and Bubble Pods.
The Lab Area and Educational Cove explore the science behind bioluminescence β what causes the organisms to glow, what triggers their response, and how living bioluminescent cultures are cultivated and cared for. Recommended for ages 4 and up (under-12s need adult supervision); expect 45β60 minutes in dark, enclosed spaces, closed-toe footwear required, no flash photography. Presented in partnership with Popular Biology, Inc.
